Psychology Supports

Psychology supports under the NDIS focus on building skills, increasing independence, and improving wellbeing to help individuals participate more fully in everyday life. Through evidence-based and person-centred approaches, psychology can support people to better understand their experiences, develop coping strategies, and work towards meaningful goals.

At Birds of a Feather, our psychologists provide capacity building supports across Lismore and Northern NSW. We work collaboratively with participants, families, carers, and support teams to develop practical strategies that strengthen emotional wellbeing, enhance resilience, and promote quality of life.

Psychology supports may assist individuals to better understand the impact of their symptoms and build skills in areas such as emotional regulation, communication, distress tolerance, interpersonal relationships, anxiety management, and problem-solving. Our approach is strengths-based, trauma-informed, and tailored to each person's unique needs, goals, and neurodiversity.

By fostering insight, building practical skills, and supporting meaningful change, we aim to empower individuals to navigate challenges with greater confidence, independence, and wellbeing.

Psychology is provided under a participant’s Capacity Building - Improved Daily Living funding.

What We Offer

Capacity Building Psychological Intervention
Individualised psychological interventions that help participants understand the impact of their symptoms, develop insight, and build skills to navigate daily challenges. Supports may focus on emotional regulation, distress tolerance, communication, anxiety management, interpersonal relationships, problem-solving, self-advocacy, and coping strategies to enhance independence and quality of life.

We recognise that every individual’s journey is unique. Our psychologists adopt a strengths-based, trauma-informed, and neuroaffirming approach, tailoring supports to each person’s goals, preferences, and lived experiences.

Comprehensive Psychological Assessments
Assessment services that provide a deeper understanding of a participant’s strengths, needs, and support requirements. Assessments can help inform recommendations, guide intervention planning, and support access to appropriate NDIS funding and services.

Our psychological assessments look to overview various aspects of individual functioning including cognition, learning, adaptive behaviour, and psychosocial function. Our assessments are tailored to the needs of the individual and are not diagnosic in nature but aim to provide a comprehensive overview to guide supports.

Our team is passionate about delivering compassionate care and achieving positive outcomes. We believe in the potential of every individual and strive to create a supportive environment where people can build skills, foster wellbeing, and thrive in their communities.
